2023 Leadership Award Recipients
This Leadership Award recognizes a physician from individual hospitals within our
counties who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and service.
Omega D. Ball, MD, Capital Health Dr. Ball was recognized for her ability to use both informatics and technology to help improve the communication gaps between physicians. Dr. Ball's efforts have led to a streamlined, system-based approach which facilitates bridging the communication gaps across interdisciplinary medical teams. Her passion in utilizing technology to enhance physician workflow has proven to deliver a strong sustainable model of patient care, and it has mitigated inefficiencies in the delivery of care. Additionally, Dr. Ball's colleagues were particularly grateful for her leadership skills and for her support in representing them in various hospital committees. |
Dr. Michael S. Gordon, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton Dr. Gordon was nominated for his exemplary leadership over the years as chair of the department of anesthesia at RWJ - Hamilton, as such his leadership stood vital in managing the institution’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, where airway management and critical care medicine dominated. Dr. Gordon's fortitude and drive to help patients through the pandemic has earned him praise within the institution. His well-regarded COVID-19 airway management presentation, given to 20,000 of his colleagues during the pandemic, was a clear example of the valuable guidance he provided at the national level. |
Dr. Christopher E. Gribbin, St. Peter's University Hospital Among attributes that were shared by both physician and hospital leadership at St. Peter's University Hospital, was Dr. Gribbins ability to find solutions to complex issues through his systematic and methodical approach. Dr. Gribbin colleagues were also particularly grateful for his leadership and advocacy work in support of physicians not only within its own institution but also at the state and national level. |
Dr. Craig Gronczewski, Penn Medicine Princeton Health Dr. Gronczewski was nominated for outstanding leadership within his various roles as Chair of the Emergency Department, President of the Medical Staff, and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of Penn Medicine Princeton Health. As CMO during the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Gronczewski was said to have personified steady leadership and resilience in directing a methodical effort to bolster clinical quality and patient experience while integrating operations with the larger University of Pennsylvania Health System. Dr. Gronczewski was also recognized for his initiatives that helped boost employee and physician well-being during the pandemic. |
Dr. James C. Salwitz, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital New Brunswick Dr. James Salwitz was nominated for his crucial role during the pandemic. As president of the medical staff during the pandemic, Dr. Salwitz frequent, clear communication and directions to the medical staff was recognized to be extremely valuable in appeasing anxieties and leading his staff and colleagues through the unprecedented pandemic. |
